Law Societies and Institutions
Solicitors Regulation Authority
Established in January 2007, the SRA was previously called the Law Society Regulation Board. We changed our name to emphasise our independence and to make what we do clearer.
The SRA is the independent regulatory body of the Law Society of England and Wales
The Law Society
The Law Society represents solicitors in England and Wales. From negotiating with and lobbying the profession’s regulators, government and others, to offering training and advice, we’re here to help, protect and promote solicitors across England and Wales.
The Bar Council
The Bar Council represents barristers in England and Wales. It promotes the Bar’s high quality specialist advocacy and advisory services, fair access to justice for all, the highest standards of ethics, equality and diversity across the profession, and the development of business opportunities for barristers at home and abroad.
