Luton Keep Active Summer Challenge
BCPD Trust a Luton based charity has launched their Keep active summer school holidays challenge for young children between the ages of 7 to 18.
These activities are funded by Luton Council’s Social Justice Unit, through BLCF, as part of the Luton Citizens’ Fund.
There are three events planned:
- Keep Active Kayaking & Raft building challenge – 23rd July
- Keep Active climbing wall and abseil challenge – 30th July
- Keep Active walking challenge across the Chiltern Hills – 16th August
Kayaking & Raft building challenge
Kayaking and raft building is a great way to encourage young people to take part in physical activities and enjoy an active lifestyle. This challenge is also used to develop and hone life skills including teamwork, leadership, communications, problem solving, decision making. We plan to spend half a day focusing on raft building and kayaking skills.
Climbing wall and abseil challenge
High ropes course allows young people and volunteers to challenge themselves and encourages active lifestyles. This challenge is also used to develop and hone life skills including teamwork, leadership, communications, problem solving, decision making. The course has multiple components allowing different team challenges, from large outdoor climbing wall and abseil tower, postman’s walk, crate stack, Jacob’s ladder, all aboard and leap of faith.

Walking challenge
This is a walking challenge across the Chiltern hills covering 5-6 miles through the scenic countryside. This increases physical activities as well as encourage active lifestyles. A free T-Shirt and goody bag would be available for the first 24 participants.
